KGF co-director Kirtan Nadagouda’s young son dies in lift accident
A tragic accident has claimed the life of Sonarsh K. Nadagouda, the four-and-a-half-year-old son of filmmaker Kirtan Nadagouda, who is known for his work as a co-director on the KGF franchise and Salaar. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, when the child got stuck in a lift, according to information shared by officials and media reports.
The news was confirmed publicly by actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who expressed his condolences to the bereaved family in a social media post. Describing the loss as heartbreaking, he said he was deeply saddened to learn about the young child’s death and offered his sympathies to Kirtan Nadagouda and his wife, Samriddhi Patel.
Police sources indicated that the circumstances surrounding the lift accident are being examined, though no detailed official statement has yet been released by the family. Such incidents, while rare, have once again raised concerns around lift safety, particularly in residential and public buildings where children are present.
Kirtan Nadagouda has spent several years working in the Kannada film industry’s direction department. He rose to wider recognition as a second-unit director and later as co-director alongside Prashanth Neel on the blockbuster KGF films and Salaar. He is currently preparing for his directorial debut in Telugu with a horror film, backed by Mythri Movie Makers and Prashanth Neel, which was formally launched last month.
Condolence messages from members of the film fraternity and fans have continued to pour in, reflecting the shock and grief felt across the industry. The family is yet to speak publicly as they mourn the sudden and devastating loss.
As investigations continue, the incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of strict safety checks and supervision around mechanical systems, especially where children are involved.
