Class 10 student stabbed to death by Junior in Ahmedabad school has sparked shock, anger, and protests across the city, raising urgent concerns about student safety and school accountability.

The incident took place at the Seventh Day Adventist Higher Secondary School in Khokra, Ahmedabad, where a scuffle between two students escalated into a brutal attack. According to police, a Class 9 boy stabbed his senior, a Class 10 student, during an argument on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning.

Mob Violence After Student’s Death

As news of the tragedy spread, hundreds of locals and parents gathered outside the school, furious over what they called “serious safety lapses” and negligence by the administration. The angry mob vandalised the school premises, broke furniture, damaged buses, and even attacked staff members. Police had to be deployed in large numbers to bring the situation under control.

Gujarat Education Minister Praful Pansheriya strongly condemned the incident, calling it “a red signal for a civilised society”. He appealed for peace and urged parents and students not to take the law into their own hands.

Chilling Chats Surface on Social Media

Adding to the shock, screenshots of alleged private Instagram chats between the accused and his friends have gone viral. In the leaked messages, the accused is seen casually acknowledging the stabbing, writing things like “jo hogaya vo hogaya” (whatever happened, has happened).

In another disturbing message, he allegedly told a friend to inform others that he had killed the victim, showing no remorse. Bharat Details could not independently verify the authenticity of these chats, but their circulation has fuelled public anger and raised concerns about the glorification of violence among schoolchildren.

School Safety Under Scrutiny

The Ahmedabad District Education Officer has issued a formal notice to the school, questioning how the stabbing occurred within the premises and why immediate medical help was delayed. Officials pointed out that under Gujarat’s School Safety Policy 2016, schools are required to have active disciplinary committees and preventive mechanisms to address conflicts.

Parents also came forward alleging repeated complaints against misconduct in the school, including bullying, use of abusive language, harassment, and students carrying knives and mobile phones. Many claimed that the school administration ignored warnings and let offenders off with written apologies instead of strict action.

Police and Investigation Update

The accused minor has been detained under the Juvenile Justice Act, and a case has been registered. Joint Commissioner of Police Jaipal Singh Rathore confirmed that CCTV footage and witness statements are being reviewed to reconstruct the exact sequence of events.

Meanwhile, political and student organizations have demanded stronger safety measures in schools, along with counselling programmes for conflict resolution. Some groups have even suggested incorporating Gandhian non-violence values into school curricula to address rising aggression among teenagers.

A Wake-Up Call for Schools and Parents

This tragic incident has not only highlighted glaring lapses in school safety but also raised troubling questions about how children are processing conflict and violence. Mental health experts have stressed the need for early intervention, counselling, and life-skill programmes to help students resolve disputes without aggression.

Parents and educators now face an urgent challenge — ensuring schools are not just centres of academics, but safe spaces where children can grow emotionally, socially, and mentally, free from fear and violence.
