Mumbai BEST Election Results: Sena (UBT)-MNS Alliance Loses All 21 Seats, Shashank Rao Panel Wins Big

The Mumbai BEST election results have brought a big shock for the Sena (UBT)-MNS alliance, as they failed to win even a single seat, losing all 21 seats in the polls.

The clear winner was the Shashank Rao panel of the BEST Workers’ Union, which secured 14 out of 21 seats. The remaining 7 seats went to the Mahayuti panel, supported by BJP leaders Prasad Lad and Pravin Darekar.

This result has ended Shiv Sena’s nine-year control over the BEST Employees’ Co-operative Credit Society.

Why This Election Was Important

The election was closely watched because it was seen as a test before the upcoming BMC elections. The Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray and MNS led by Raj Thackeray had joined hands, but their combined strength did not help them.

Sena leader Suhas Samant expressed surprise at the results, claiming that money may have influenced voting. On the other hand, Lad and Darekar said the employees voted against corruption and wanted change.

Who is Shashank Rao?

The winning leader, Shashank Rao, is well known among Mumbai’s workers. He has led the BEST Workers’ Union for the last 10 years, after taking over from his father, Sharad Rao, a veteran trade union leader.

Rao said his team will work for the benefit of BEST employees and will also cooperate with members of the Mahayuti panel.
