Delhi Assembly Security Breach: Car Crashes Through Gate, Ink Thrown at Speaker’s Vehicle

A Delhi Assembly security breach triggered alarm on Monday afternoon after a car broke through a barricaded gate and entered the high-security premises, officials said.

According to preliminary information, the incident took place around 2 pm when a vehicle with a Uttar Pradesh registration number rammed through Gate No. 2 of the Delhi Legislative Assembly complex. Security personnel were caught off guard as the car managed to cross the barrier and briefly access restricted areas before fleeing.

Officials said the driver, reportedly wearing a mask, drove towards the office of Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta. In a bizarre turn of events, the individual placed a flower bouquet near the porch and allegedly threw ink at the Speaker’s vehicle before escaping the premises.

The breach caused immediate panic within the Assembly complex, which is considered a sensitive zone due to the presence of lawmakers and senior government officials. Security teams quickly responded and sealed entry points while initiating a search for the suspect.

Authorities have termed the incident a serious lapse and launched an investigation to determine how the vehicle was able to bypass multiple layers of security. Police sources indicated that CCTV footage from all entry and exit points is being examined to trace the vehicle’s route and identify the driver.

The timing of the breach has added to concerns. The Assembly had recently received bomb threats during its Budget session, prompting heightened security measures. Monday’s incident has now raised questions about the effectiveness of those safeguards.

Officials said a detailed review of the existing security protocols is underway, and accountability will be fixed if any negligence is found. More stringent checks and reinforcement of barriers are likely to be introduced in the coming days.

While no injuries were reported, the incident has underscored vulnerabilities in securing key government installations in the national capital. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
