Ahmedabad Drishyam-Style Murder: Man Missing for a Year Found Buried Under Kitchen Floor, Wife and Lover on the Run
Ahmedabad Drishyam-style murder has sent shockwaves across Gujarat after police discovered the skeletal remains of a 35-year-old man, buried beneath the kitchen floor of his own home. The deceased, identified as Samir Ansari, had been missing for nearly a year before the grisly truth surfaced. Investigators revealed that his wife Ruby and her alleged lover, Imran Vaghela, are the prime suspects behind this cold-blooded and premeditated crime.
Discovery Beneath the Kitchen Floor
The case came to light when the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, acting on a confidential tip-off, visited Ansari’s locked residence in Sarkhej. In the presence of an executive magistrate, police excavated the cemented kitchen floor and unearthed skeletal remains, hair, and tissue samples, all sealed beneath tiles and concrete.
According to officers, forensic and DNA tests have been initiated to confirm the identity of the remains and gather more evidence. The shocking discovery has drawn comparisons to the Bollywood thriller Drishyam due to the eerily similar concealment of the crime.
The Plot and Motive Behind the Murder
Preliminary investigations indicate that the murder was meticulously planned. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ajit Rajian confirmed that Ruby conspired with her lover Imran Vaghela and his two associates, Rahim and Mohsin, to eliminate Samir.
Police sources revealed that Samir had confronted Ruby over her extramarital affair, leading to frequent domestic disputes. “Imran confessed during interrogation that Ruby considered her husband an obstacle in their relationship. They decided to kill him after he allegedly began physically assaulting her,” said DCP Rajian.
Execution of the Crime
Investigators believe that on the night of the murder, Imran slit Ansari’s throat with Ruby’s help. The duo then dismembered the body and buried the remains inside a freshly dug pit beneath the kitchen platform. To erase all traces, the area was sealed with cement and floor tiles, making it appear undisturbed.
Shockingly, Ruby continued living in the same house for several months with her two children, convincing neighbours that Samir had left for work in another city. Later, she rented the house out to new tenants, who reportedly complained about a foul smell and strange occurrences—eventually leading to police suspicion and discovery of the remains.
Victim’s Background and Timeline
Samir Ansari, originally from Siwan district in Bihar, had married Ruby in 2015 after a love affair. The couple moved to Ahmedabad in 2016, where Samir worked as a mason to support his family. Locals said that his sudden disappearance last year had raised eyebrows, especially since his phone was switched off for 14 months, and he had no contact with relatives or friends.
Investigation Unfolds
The investigation began three months ago after the Crime Branch received a lead suggesting foul play. Acting on these clues, police traced and detained Imran Vaghela, who ultimately confessed to the crime and guided officers to the burial site.
During the excavation, done in the presence of officials, police recovered the remains from the Ahmedwadi Raw House No. A6 near Fatewadi Canal. Ruby and two of her alleged accomplices, Rahim and Mohsin, are currently absconding, while Imran remains in police custody and is cooperating in the probe.
Neighbours’ Accounts and Local Reactions
Neighbours described the couple’s marriage as “troubled.” One resident shared, “They often fought, and a year ago Ruby told us Samir had gone to Dubai for work. But we frequently saw Imran visiting her house.”
The tenants who later rented the property also reported an unbearable odour and unsettling incidents that made them vacate the house. Their complaints eventually helped investigators reopen the case.
Police Statement and Ongoing Investigation
Police officials have registered a case of murder and destruction of evidence. Authorities are determined to trace and arrest Ruby and her accomplices soon. DCP Ajit Rajian described the case as “a cold-blooded and calculated act,” emphasizing that the accused went to great lengths to hide the crime but were ultimately caught due to persistent investigation.
Forensic experts are continuing tests to confirm the victim’s identity and establish the full sequence of events.
