Aban Ahmed, Youngest Son of Atiq Ahmed, Dies in High-Speed SUV Crash in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi

A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district claimed the life of Aban Ahmed Death, the youngest son of slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, on Thursday after the SUV he was travelling in reportedly crashed into a road divider. Police officials said another passenger also lost his life in the accident, while three others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a government medical facility.

The accident occurred on the Kanpur–Jhansi highway in the Poonch police station area at around 10.30 am. According to police, the SUV was travelling at a high speed when the driver allegedly lost control, causing the vehicle to hit the central divider with significant impact.

Senior police officials confirmed that Aban Ahmed and one of his companions, identified as Sonu, suffered critical injuries in the crash. Despite medical efforts, both were declared dead. The remaining passengers survived the accident but sustained injuries of varying severity.

Authorities said the injured were immediately shifted to the Government Medical College in Jhansi, where doctors are continuing their treatment. Their condition is being monitored, and officials have not yet released further details regarding their recovery.

Police begin investigation into the crash

Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the accident. Preliminary findings indicate that excessive speed may have played a major role.

Senior Superintendent of Police BBGTS Murthy said officers received information about the accident shortly after it occurred. According to the initial inquiry, the SUV became uncontrollable before crashing into the divider.

Investigators are also examining the vehicle’s condition and collecting statements from survivors to understand whether any other factors contributed to the collision. Officials said further findings would emerge after a detailed technical inspection and completion of the investigation.

Survivor recounts the moments before the accident

One of the injured passengers reportedly told police that the SUV was travelling at a very high speed before the driver lost control. The survivor, identified as Mohammad Umar, was among those injured in the collision.

According to officials, Umar informed investigators that the group was travelling to Jhansi when the accident occurred. His statement has become an important part of the ongoing investigation into the crash.

Police have not indicated any evidence of foul play, and the incident is currently being treated as a road accident.

Aban was travelling to meet his elder brother

Officials said Aban Ahmed was travelling from Prayagraj to Jhansi to meet his elder brother, Ali Ahmad, who is currently lodged in Jhansi jail. Ali had been shifted there from Naini Central Jail last year.

The journey reportedly involved several companions travelling together in the SUV. Police confirmed that Sonu, who died alongside Aban, was also in the vehicle during the accident.

Authorities are continuing to verify the travel details and have informed the family about the incident.
