Nashik Earthquake: 4.3-Magnitude Quake Triggers Tremors, Cracks Reported in Some Houses
A Nashik earthquake of magnitude 4.3 struck Maharashtra late Saturday night, followed by another tremor measuring 3.3 early Sunday morning, causing panic in several parts of the district. Cracks were reported in some houses, but officials said there were no casualties.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the 4.3-magnitude earthquake occurred at around 10 pm on Saturday. A second tremor, measuring 3.3 magnitude, was recorded at 5.33 am on Sunday.
The seismic activity was detected at a depth of around 5 kilometres in the Bhanwad area, close to the Hatgad mountain range near the Maharashtra-Gujarat border.

Tremors felt across several parts of Nashik
The shaking was felt in multiple parts of Nashik district, including Nashik city and the talukas of Surgana, Kalwan, Deola, Chandwad, Peth, Dindori and Niphad.
The sudden movement prompted several residents to leave their homes as a precaution. In some areas, the tremors caused concern among residents who had already experienced seismic activity in the district in recent weeks.
District administration officials said cracks appeared in the walls of some houses in Bhadar village in Surgana taluka and Nanashi village in Dindori taluka. Authorities are assessing the situation to determine the extent of the reported structural damage.
No casualties reported
There have been no reports of deaths or injuries so far, officials said.
Authorities also inspected dams in the affected areas following the earthquake. The inspections did not reveal any damage, according to the district administration.
District Collector Ayush Prasad urged residents to remain calm and avoid spreading or believing unverified information.
Officials have advised people to remain alert and follow basic safety precautions if further tremors are felt.
Nashik has experienced tremors recently
The latest seismic activity comes after tremors were reported in parts of Nashik district between July 25 and July 28. Another tremor was also recorded on August 6.
The repeated seismic activity has raised concern among residents, particularly in areas close to the Maharashtra-Gujarat border. However, the occurrence of successive tremors does not by itself indicate that a larger earthquake will follow, and authorities continue to monitor the situation.
For residents, the immediate priority remains safety and access to accurate information. Authorities are expected to continue monitoring seismic activity and assessing any reports of structural damage in affected villages.
At present, no loss of life has been reported following the Nashik earthquake, while officials have urged people to remain cautious without giving in to rumours or panic.
