Mira Road Pleasant Park Fire: Massive Blaze Near Jangid Estate Sparks Panic, Shops Gutted
- A massive fire in Mira Road’s Pleasant Park area near Jangid Estate gutted over 20 shops, caused panic among residents, and led to hours-long firefighting operations. No casualties reported.
Mira Road Pleasant Park Fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday, December 13, triggering fear and confusion among residents in the Mira-Bhayander region of the Mumbai Metropolitan Area. The fire erupted near Jangid Estate in the Pleasant Park locality of Mira Road (East), with towering flames and thick black smoke visible from several hundred metres away.
According to information gathered by Bharat Details, the fire started during the early morning hours and quickly spread across multiple commercial establishments. Residents reported seeing flames from a distance of nearly 400 to 500 metres, indicating the intensity of the blaze. Several locals stepped out of their homes as smoke filled the surrounding area, while others recorded videos that later circulated widely on social media.
Fire brigade teams from the municipal corporation rushed to the spot soon after receiving alerts. Police personnel also reached the area and immediately cordoned off nearby roads to prevent injuries and ensure smooth access for emergency vehicles. Firefighting operations continued for several hours before the blaze was finally brought under control.
Preliminary assessments suggest that around 20 to 25 shops were completely gutted, resulting in heavy financial losses for shop owners. Most of the affected establishments were reduced to ashes, leaving behind twisted metal shutters and charred debris. Shopkeepers expressed shock as they arrived to find their businesses destroyed overnight.
While the exact cause of the Mira Road Pleasant Park fire has not yet been officially confirmed, officials stated that investigations are underway. Some early inputs indicate the possibility of a cylinder blast, but authorities have clarified that this has not been established and will only be confirmed after a detailed inquiry.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported so far. Fire department officials said the absence of people in the shops at the time helped avoid loss of life. A detailed damage assessment is currently being conducted to estimate the scale of losses.
This incident comes close on the heels of another fire reported a day earlier near Kalyan Road, where an abandoned building containing scrap materials caught fire due to highly combustible waste. Fire officials have once again urged strict adherence to fire safety norms, especially in areas storing flammable materials.
