Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta meet Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow as the actors continue promotions for their upcoming film Batwara 1947, which is scheduled to reach cinemas on August 14.

The actors visited Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow on August 7, just days before the release of the period drama. The meeting came during the cast’s promotional activities in the city and was described as a courtesy interaction.

Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta were in Lucknow to connect with audiences ahead of the film’s theatrical release. Sunny Deol’s son and co-star Karan Deol was also present during the promotional programme earlier in the day.

Photographs from the meeting were subsequently shared on social media. Sunny Deol posted pictures with the chief minister and described the interaction as a pleasant and warm conversation. Yogi Adityanath also shared photographs from the meeting, referring to it as a courtesy meeting with the two actors.

According to the information shared around the visit, Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta also presented an idol of Ram Lalla to the Uttar Pradesh chief minister during the meeting.

Batwara 1947 explores the human cost of Partition

Batwara 1947 is set against the backdrop of the Partition of India in 1947, a period marked by widespread displacement, violence and uncertainty. The film focuses on the impact of the upheaval on ordinary families rather than treating Partition only as a historical event.

The film is being produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under Aamir Khan Productions. A. R. Rahman has composed the music, while Javed Akhtar has written the lyrics.

The project was earlier associated with the title Lahore 1947 before being presented as Batwara 1947. It is now scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026.
